Vincent Delalandre

Actually in position in Shenzhen, China, since July 2008 I am working for a Chinese garment manufacturing company regrouping 1 office with sample room and 4 garments factories.

My main goal is to develop the actual business of our company and help new customers along their sourcing, development and research. It’s also a good chance for me to give a new point of view of the whole company as 1st foreigner employed. Since I Join, we are happy to say that we develop our business with new customers from Europe and pass different compliance audit for international brands in order to show our requirement and position.

My developer background help me to understand the request and needs from our customer and their market and we definitely improve our result in terms our quality along development, prototypes but I also increase our abilities with a better understanding of the different process of embellishing of our products. I am now internally developing a small range of products directly with our sample room to provide to customer fresh products more frequently along the season but also to show them our knowledge in terms of products and embellishing.

In position in the south west of France for 4years I start as an assistant designer. My 1st goal was to introduce a new PDM software into the Design division by doing Bill of materials and input design into the system.

After a short period in this position, I become Mountain wear developer. Based half time in the French Alps and half time in the south west of France, I team up with an European design team to develop the range for Men, Girls and Kids outerwear but also the accessories. I managed our development from 1st prototype to the bulk order including fabrics, allovers and trims development. I frequently fly to factories in Asia in order to finalize comments before SMS and price but also before bulk to insure correct understanding from our suppliers.

During this period I learn a lot from my senior designer and senior product merchant in terms of product, design, economy but more than everything in my work organization, consistence, process and motivation which become soon a passion. The quality of the final product added to a better and sooner delivery of correct SMS for sales seminar but also for sale period helped the mountain wear range to increase sells and style reference every season.
